A Funny Thing Happened to Me

    A funny thing happened to me.  Well it wasn't funny at the time but it seems funny now.  It was just after Valentine's Day and I was asleep.  My mom and dad know the story better than I do so I'll let me ask my mom some questions.  "Mom?"

    "You woke me up."

    "How did I do that if I was asleep?

    "It was the middle of the night and I was asleep, too.  Suddenly your dad and I heard you screaming.  You sounded terrified.  We both ran to your room as quickly as we could to find you yelling and yelling.  You were talking about a leech.   'There's a leech!  Get the leech off me!  Help me!'  And we could see the leech.  It was clinging to your neck.  It looked dark and shiny.

    "Mom, we don't live close to any water. How could a leech get on my neck?'

    "Well, it was Valentine's Day."

    "I don't understand."

    "When we turned on the lights and got you calmed down enough to hold still so that we could look at the animal, we found that it was a compressed Hostess HoHo cake.  You must have really wanted to enjoy your Valentine treats.  You took an unwrapped HoHo to bed and turned it into a chocolate leech as your slept!  You couldn't remember what you were dreaming at the time, but you did have a swim team session to go to the next day so maybe you were dreaming of water."

    "I do remember how we laughed when we found out what it was."
